San Jose emergency care services

Our emergency room offers 24-hour care with access to advanced emergency care services. Whether you or your family needs medical attention for minor bumps, scrapes, burns or life-threatening conditions, our emergency care staff is dedicated to putting your needs first.

Heart attack treatment

We are proud to be recognized by Santa Clara County as an ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) Receiving Center for patients experiencing a heart attack. A STEMI is the most deadly type of heart attack and is caused by a lack of blood flow to large areas of the heart.

At Regional Medical Center of San Jose, we have the technology, highly trained medical staff, expert cardiac catheterization laboratory staff and specialty physicians to rapidly diagnose and treat heart attack patients. For patients experiencing a STEMI, we can provide potentially lifesaving care by re-opening blocked arteries in less than 90 minutes, which is the national standard.

Stroke treatment

A stroke is a serious medical emergency requiring immediate medical attention. Early treatment can lead to higher survival rates and reduce brain damage and other complications.

As an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center by The Joint Commission in collaboration with the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association, our emergency care physicians are ready 24/7 to respond and treat incoming stroke patients who may have symptoms of a hemorrhagic or ischemic stroke.

We have a dedicated neurological intensive care unit (Neuro ICU) where patients continue receiving specialized stroke care. We also offer a neurological rehabilitation program as part of our physical therapy and rehabilitation services. Our stroke patients receive personalized rehab care to help them regain their independence and quality of life.

Trauma care

Regional Medical Center of San Jose is a verified Level II Trauma Center. The designation, awarded by the American College of Surgeons and Santa Clara County, recognizes our center's dedication to providing optimal care for injured patients. We offer comprehensive trauma care, with 24/7 access to on-site trauma, critical care trained surgeons and a wide range of surgical subspecialties to consistently meet the needs of our most seriously injured patients.
