Most Scarless, Belly Button Gallbladder Surgeries in the Bay Area with Robotic Assistance
San Jose, CA — San Jose Institute of Robotic Surgery at Regional Medical Center of San Jose has performed more than 500 advanced robotic-assisted surgical procedures, including the most Single-Site robotic-assisted cholecystectomies (gallbladder removals) in the San Francisco Bay area. San Jose-based Advanced Surgical Associates, led by Dr. Huy Nguyen, performed their first Single-Site procedure on April 5, 2012 and have completed more than 400 procedures since that time.
"To be one of the only Bay Area hospitals to reach this procedure milestone demonstrates our commitment to providing patients with the most up-to-date minimally invasive options, "said Dr. Huy Nguyen Director of Robotic Surgery . "Regional's advanced robotic surgery program enables me to operate through one small incision in the patient's navel, giving our patients one of the most cosmetically appealing surgical results possible."
Regional Medical Center offers various types of robotic-assisted surgery. In addition to gallbladder removal, surgeons perform a wide variety of complex robotic-assisted surgical procedures in general surgery, gynecology, urology and thoracic. Benefits of robotic-assisted surgery include minimal scarring, less pain, less bleeding, faster recovery and a shorter hospital stay, enhancing quality and safety and improving patient satisfaction.
A robotics celebration reception will be held at Regional Medical Center of San Jose at 1:00pm Tues, November 18, 2014 at the TCU Conference Room Lobby on the first floor. Dr. Huy Nguyen and Dr. Kirby Tran (Gynecology) will be present to field questions. Attendees will be able to "test drive" the da Vinci® Si Surgical System from 10:00am - 2:00pm, available to physicians, hospital personnel and the public.
Regional's advanced robot assisted surgery program continues to grow in size and volume and will soon be offering Single-Site hysterectomies which will offer the same cosmetic advantages as single site gallbladder surgery.
