Regional Medical Center begins COVID-19 vaccinations for Santa Clara County Healthcare Workers
San Jose, CA – Regional Medical Center of San Jose is pleased to offer COVID-19 vaccines to all eligible healthcare workers throughout Santa Clara County to help mass vaccination efforts in the fight against the deadly pandemic. In order to receive a vaccine, qualified health professionals will need to register ahead of time on the county’s website.
“We are happy to announce that we are committed to rolling out the vaccines to the eligible as quickly as possible,” says Dr. Tarannum Guller, chief medical officer at Regional Medical Center of San Jose. “The sooner we administer the vaccines, the sooner we can put an end to the suffering our communities are experiencing.”
To date, Regional Medical Center has administered 1,349 of first doses to our front-line workers in order to ensure their health and safety and our collective ability to continue to care for our patients. Last week, the hospital begun offering the second of two required vaccine doses to our healthcare heroes.
Eligible health professionals throughout Santa Clara County who work in a variety of settings including behavioral health, laboratory, dental, dialysis, private practice and others must register on the Santa Clara County Public Health website attesting they meet state and federal criteria prior to receiving a vaccine.
“Vaccines offer the right solution to ensure our personal safety. While we work in concordance with the vaccine rollout, we care for those who come to us with COVID,“ says Regional Medical Center CEO Tomi Ryba. “There is no question that back to back surges have created capacity challenges for all providers in Silicon Valley and across the states. There is unprecedented coordination and collaboration among the county and healthcare providers to ensure each patient is immediately treated at the right level of care.”
Until the vaccines are widely available to the Santa Clara County community, Ryba reminds everyone of the CDC rules of masking, social distancing and otherwise taking care of their health.
