Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment for Nonhealing Wounds

The Regional Medical Center of San Jose Wound Care Center® is an outpatient treatment center that provides comprehensive treatment for non-healing wounds. A nonhealing wound is a sore or wound that hasn't started to get significantly better in a month or that hasn't healed entirely in two months.

Every year, nearly five million Americans suffer from chronic wounds caused by diabetes, poor circulation, traumatic injury, or other conditions. Physicians and nurses from various medical specialties work together at the Wound Care Center to heal your wound—and to help you get your life back.

The Regional Medial Center of San Jose Wound Care Center is a network member of Healogics, Inc. Regional has partnered with Healogics, Inc- the nation's largest disease management company specializing in chronic wound care--to create this innovative program. Healogics,Inc offers a continuum of care model, featuring the best evidence-based wound treatment, at over 300 network member centers nationwide.

Our staff will evaluate your wound and general health, as well as reviewing your medical history. You also may have special tests to give us information about the blood and oxygen flow in the wound area. In addition, you may be referred for laboratory testing, to make sure that you don't have an infection or a problem with your nutritional status that prevents you from healing.

When your test results are in, we'll put together a treatment program based upon your special needs. This program will include regular visits to the Wound Care Center to provide treatment, evaluate progress, and make any changes that might be needed. You or your caregiver will be given detailed instructions regarding in home care, dressing (bandage) changes, and protecting the wound from further injury.

Much of the success of your treatment depends on you. You must keep your appointments, follow directions carefully, and watch your progress closely between visits. Our staff is available to answer any questions you or your family members may have regarding your progress.

The Wound Care Center works with your personal doctor, just like any other medical specialist. We'll discuss your treatment program with your doctor and keep him or her updated on your progress. You will continue to see your doctor for routine medical care.

Medicare and many health plans cover treatment at the Wound Care Center. Your coverage depends upon your specific plan. Be sure to bring your insurance cards with you when you visit the Wound Care Center.
