The Family Birthing Center

Bringing children into the world is a wonderful experience; there are many choices to make. At Regional Medical Center of San Jose, we aim to educate expectant mothers and their families to make the entire process the joyful experience it should be.

Regional has put together a complete birthing package that helps to educate and prepare all members of the family. We invite you to join us in our many classes (listed on our online calendar) designed especially for expectant mothers and their loved ones.

Each year, Regional’s Family Birthing Center welcomes thousands of children into the world. The Center is designed to provide care and comfort to satisfy every need. Six private birthing suites offer a comfortable and accommodating setting during your stay at Regional. Family and friends are welcome to take part in the birthing experience and newborn bonding is encouraged from the very beginning. You may begin caring for your baby right away, as accommodations are available to allow mother and baby to stay together throughout their visit. We also offer a full-service newborn nursery to care for your infant if you prefer to catch up on your rest. Two surgical suites are available for patients requiring Cesarean births, and all newborns are screened for metabolic disorders and jaundice.

The Family Birthing Center also offers support for babies with special needs. Newborns who are born prematurely or with serious or life-threatening illnesses can expect to receive the very best care at Regional. Our intermediate care NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) is equipped to provide advanced neonatal care. Our Level II NICU is certified by the California Children's Services and is one of two such nurseries in the area.

Throughout your stay you will have peace of mind knowing that you and your baby will be safe and secure at all times. Our facility is outfitted with a state-of-the-are infant security system that is unsurpassed in the Santa Clara Valley. If patients are on isolation, visitors need to follow isolation standards.

Pediatric
The Pediatric Unit is staffed by all Registered Nurses. Parents are encouraged to stay with their children for comfort and peace of mind.

During your stay at Regional, you can expect to receive outstanding care from some of the finest physicians and nurses in Santa Clara Valley. our nursing staff provides round-the-clock support and care for all patients, and work very closely with our doctors to ensure the highest level of comfort and safety.

Communication will not be a barrier during your stay, as our multicultural staff speaks several languages and dialects. We also have access to the Cyracom language help line to assist patients with whom we are unable to communicate.
