A vital role in your treatment
Pathology plays a vital role in the diagnosis, research and monitoring of treatment of diseases. Regional’s Pathology Department offers a complete range of inpatient and outpatient laboratory testing services in all aspects of anatomic pathology and clinical pathology. Our team of pathologists and histotechnologists provide the highest level of diagnostic services to patients and physicians.
The Pathology Department is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by a pathologist on call. Pathologists are also on site from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
The Histology Department is staffed Monday through Friday from 2:00 am to 4:30 pm by a licensed histotechnologist and/ or a pathologist laboratory assistant.
Some of our specialty areas in Anatomic Pathology are:
Surgical Pathology – All biopsies and tissues removed at surgery are evaluated and rendered a diagnosis.
Specialized Immunohistochemical Staining – Tissue specific stains are utilized to assist in a more rapid and definitive pathologic diagnosis.
Cytopathology - Includes the evaluation of individual cells in fluids from surfaces (a Pap smear is the best known example).
Quality Care is Number One
Providing quality care is very important to us. That’s why quality control measures are in place to evaluate all patient services. Internal and external quality assurance is measured and reported to the Quality Council as well as other outside organizations on a regular basis. Our laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists.
Our department of highly-trained surgical pathologists and histotechnologists care about the health and well being of each patient. Each team member is committed to ensuring all tests are performed with accuracy and precision.
