Endoscopic Ultrasound
Physicians at Regional Medical Center of San Jose now use the advanced practice of Endoscopic Ultrasound to combine endoscopy and ultrasound to create the highest definition images of internal organ structures. This is a substantial advance in the ability of physicians to pinpoint and fully describe tumors, enhancing outcomes for surgery or radiation oncology.

Endoscopic Ultrasound may be used to:

  • Diagnose and treat biliary cancers
  • Place gold seed markers to aid in radiation therapy treatment
  • Diagnose gall bladder and common bile duct stones
  • Assist with lymph node biopsies
  • Guide drainage of cysts in the liver and pancreas
  • Mucosal resection of large polyps

Colonscopy
Colonoscopy is recognized as a primary line of defense against colon cancer. Colonoscopy allows for the early identification and removal of polyps that can become cancerous. In addition to the prevention, identification and treatment of colon cancer, colonoscopy may be used in:
