Regional's newly remodeled and expanded 43-bed Emergency Room is conveniently located just off the 680 at the corner of Jackson and McKee with dedicated parking for walk-in patients.

The physicians at Regional Medical Center of San Jose were the first in the country to use the Rapid Medical Evaluation™ method of treatment in emergency departments. On average, our patients are seen by a provider in just over 10 minutes. Our highly trained and efficient staff is committed to your prompt and thorough treatment.

Regional Medical Center of San Jose has credentials that are unmatched. Regional is part of the area's first network of accredited Chest Pain Centers, a Joint Commission-certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, Atrial Fibrillation Certified, a verified Level II Trauma Center and the only Bay Area helipad certified by the Coast Guard for Blackhawk-grade air ambulance landing. Regional is also one of the first California hospitals to be Sepsis Certified by The Joint Commission.

If you or a loved one ever needs medical assistance, you can count on Regional Medical Center of San Jose's Emergency Room.

Our Emergency Room consists of a caring, well-trained medical team of emergency physicians, nurses and support staff. With a total of 43 beds, Regional's ER treats an average of 220 visitors in a 24-hour period seven days a week – That's over 80,000 patients annually.

Regional has a unique partnership and relationship with all Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to deliver the best care to our patients:

  • Police
  • Fire
  • Ambulance (air & ground)
  • Military

We are truly ONE TEAM.

We are committed to providing our patients the best medical treatment as quickly as possible. That’s why in 2005 Regional implemented the Rapid Medical Evaluation (RME) program in our Emergency Room. The primary objective of RME is to dramatically reduce patient wait times. Since the program was implemented, our wait times have decreased by 50%.

Although our hospital Emergency Room services do not replace the care of your primary care physician, we offer an alternative for illnesses or injuries that simply cannot wait for treatment. In addition, our highly-skilled emergency staff is committed to providing each patient the best care possible.
