Specializing in Hemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis
Regional Medical Center of San Jose provides dialysis services to patients who are admitted to the hospital with acute or chronic renal failure.
- Renal failure or ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease) refers to temporary or permanent damage to the kidneys resulting in the loss of normal kidney function.
- Acute renal failure has an abrupt onset and is potentially reversible.
- Chronic renal failure progresses slowly over a few months and can lead to permanent kidney damage. Diabetes and hypertension (high blood pressure) are the two main causes of chronic renal failure.
Our highly trained and experienced professional registered nurses provide exceptional care with coverage 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Patients receive excellent care from a team of 10 nephrologists, a medical director, registered nurses, patient care technicians, social workers, and dieticians.
Our hospital has 11 hemodialysis machines which filter blood of toxins, waste and fluid. These highly technical machines essentially replace the function of the kidney.
As an alternative to hemodialysis, we also offer peritoneal dialysis which filters toxins, waste and fluid through the peritoneum in the patient's abdomen. This can be done through manual exchanges or night time cyclers.
We have seen our dialysis community growing rapidly over the last decade. Regional is here to provide the dialysis services that will meet the needs of you and your loved ones.
